BUEA: PENITENTIARY FAMILY BIDS FAREWELL TO SERVICEMAN WOINTOH HENRY

The penitentiary family in Buea has paid military tributes to the late retired Senior Chief Warder Wointoh Henry who slept in the Lord aged 60. The military honours took place at Bongo’s Square – Buea. Penitentiary Officers and service men across all categories, turned up on Friday 25 April 2025, to acknowledge the value of the man, his loyalty and 26-year service to the fatherland. Born in 1965 in Njinikom, Wointoh Henry became a penitentiary serviceman via an in-service recruitment launched in 1992. Upon graduation, coupled with his skillset in secretaryship, Wointoh was posted at the National School of Penitentiary Administration, ENAP Buea, precisely the Bureau for administrative affairs. In October 2006, Wointoh Henry was appointed personal assistant to the Director of ENAP. In September 2013, he became the Chief of Bureau for Administrative Affairs at ENAP, a function he occupied until his retirement in December 2020. Though officially retired, the late Senior Chief Warder was not tired. Due to his savvy, versatility, professionalism and character, authorities of ENAP Buea still sought his services almost regularly. In fact, even in retirement, he was an outstanding correspondent to JUSTITIA – the official news magazine of the Ministry of Justice produced in Yaoundé. Wointoh Henry was a passionate academic. Apart from his Diploma from ENAP, he was holder of a B.Sc. in journalism and mass communication from the University of Buea. The mortal remains of Wointoh Henry, who was married and father of two sons, were laid to rest in Buea.
